Who We Are

The Driving Academy was started in March of 1991 in Indianapolis by Vic Osborn. Mr. Osborn was an Indiana State Policeman in Blackford, Delaware and Jay counties for 21 years.  After his retirement from the police force, he was an educator and guidance counselor for a number of years.  Mr. Osborn developed a comprehensive driving program that we are continuing.  Mr. Osborn passed away in 1998, and the academy is now operated by his wife, Carol Osborn.

Our Program

The Driving Academy's driver education program is made up of six hours of one-on-one in-car instruction and thirty hours of classroom instruction.

Car instruction consists of six different routes in which the students gain experience with residential, rural, downtown and highway driving. Classroom instruction includes daily instruction presented by a licensed certified instructor, as well as expert speakers in various areas of driving safety, law enforcement and railroad safety.

We have a total of 5 instructors at our Marion location. All instructors are licensed teachers with driver's education certifications, and have all passed a thorough criminal background check.

When you are ready to enroll your teen, go to Registration / Fees and print a copy of the registration form.  Fill out the top portion and sign the last page.  Print a copy of the Student Rules and Policies and sign where indicated.  Mail both forms along with the $50.00 registration fee to us.  You might want a copy of both forms for your records.
